I202 – Social Informatics
ABSTRACT:
A huge problem facing the world today is the amount of pollution being put into our Earth’s atmosphere. This is not a problem that can go on ignored and remain status quo, as the issue will be affecting our future shortly. With the levels of pollution currently being produced and the inhabitance rate of the world continually increasing, the extinction of virtually all livable space will be seen in a much shorter time than would have been predicted in the recent past.
The solution must begin with a reduction of the overall amount of pollutants that enter the atmosphere. By working to eliminate the problem in steps, the goal is reachable. At the same time, by dropping pollution levels on Earth many natural resources will also be preserved. Pollutants let into the air, the oceans, and all natural habitats will clearly be preserved and allowed to replenish as less harmful pollutants are exposed. With the detrimental effects of pollution on all of Earth’s ecosystems, they are being destroyed at a much quicker pace than their sustainability can occur. Other natural resources that are designed to sustain, including oil and coal, will be allowed to replenish and can be used indefinitely in a less harmful environment.
Our group has decided to focus on recycling and how conservation and reuse can aid the pollution problem. We are proposing to design an intricate piping system that will be as easy as throwing away your everyday trash but helpful enough to hopefully keep this world from polluting at our current rate.
